Locations 5190 John G Glover Industrial Court, Ellenwood, GA, 30294, US (On-site)Job Category Operations: Individual ContributorsJob Description The Intermodal Dispatcher is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and dispatching of our customer's freight. The role owns the relationship with our valued Independent Contractors and is instrumental in the successful coordination of the accurate delivery of goods in a timely fashion. The key responsibilities of this function are to provide exceptional support to our drivers, be quick to respond to questions and troubleshooting concerns and to pro-actively monitor the movement of freight to ensure customer satisfaction.Core Responsibilities & Duties:Ability to multi-task and prioritize situations in a fast-paced environment (load-planning/dispatching)Communicate with drivers to prioritize loads, define routes, and set schedulesMonitor containers to prevent demurrage and storage feesProviding detailed instruction to various personnel via email and phoneAccepting & scheduling loads and providing excellent customer serviceMake routing decisions that satisfy customer expectations and company financial decisionsEnsure that shipping data is entered into the system timely and accuratelyOther duties as assignedQualifications:Intermodal transportation experience strongly preferredSelf-motivated problem-solver with fervent desire to meet customer needsStrong verbal and written communication skillsDesire for a long-term career with an industry leading companyAbility to present and maintain a positive corporate image in a fast-paced environmentProactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departmentsMust be proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.Must be willing to work a flexible scheduleSkills:The ideal candidate will possess a “can do” attitude with a “will do” work ethicMust have the ability to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of operationsExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsForward Air is an Equal Opportunity employer.WHAT WE OFFER Compensation: Competitive base pay based on experience, industry/geographic benchmarks and internal equity.
