Dispatcher Position Overview
Power your future with Qualus in our Specialized Field Services department as a Dispatcher. As a Dispatcher, you will work within a large industrial complex that provides on-site, 24hr. control, assessment, and monitoring of the utilities (electric, water, steam, etc.).
Our dispatchers work 12-hr shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. This is a Full-Time role working Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities
- Managing and maintaining a safe and reliable operation of the facilities' electric generation, transmission, and distribution system, water distribution system, and gas system
- Overseeing the continuance of critical utilities by maintaining economical, reliable, and safe operating conditions
- Controlling emergency responses
- Interfacing with customers and field personnel
- Surveying facilities by inspecting retention pounds, pump houses, and substations
- Operating analog, digital, and computer terminal equipment to assure proper and reliable exchange schedules when required
- Coordinating necessary station and distribution switching to protect repair personnel
- Isolating and restoring to operation faulted circuits and equipment
- Planning and scheduling switching procedures to place new lines and equipment in service, removes lines and equipment out of service
- Maintaining records of orders issued to and reports received from field personnel
- Complying with general and specific instructions, verification, acknowledgment of standards and regulations
- Starting, stopping, and transferring control of various units of equipment
Qualifications
- Experience within industrial or utility operations
- Experience and/or knowledge in electromechanical equipment
- Knowledge of meter reading and electrical equipment
- Electrical knowledge in operating electrical disconnects and breakers, as well as monitoring voltage levels and performing substation inspections
- Detail oriented
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written
- Experience in Microsoft Suite to include Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Safety-focused in recognition of potential dangers and hazards
