Security Guard Position

The Arlington Central School District is currently recruiting for six (6) Security Guards for its Arlington High School. This is a part-time position which involves patrolling an assigned area in order to safeguard our student and employee population as well as property. They may include providing safety at off-hours events, such as sporting events both home and away. Security Guards typically work in 6-hour shifts to be determined by the building principal or designated administrator. Interested applicants should have experience working with children and young adults and be able to de-escalate difficult situations.

Typical work may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Make rounds of the area assigned to;
  • Assist in traffic control during the arrival and dismissal of students;
  • Maintain order in hallways, study halls, dining areas, gymnasiums, etc.;
  • Inspects doors, windows and locks;
  • Maintains a lookout for irregular occurrences;
  • Intervenes in classroom confrontations and student fights if necessary, attempt to calm students removed from class for disciplinary reasons;
  • May escort students to and from special appointments;
  • Informs superiors of observations of student behavior;
  • May maintain simple records of unusual occurrences;
  • Related work as required.
