We are seeking a Marine Operations Intern to support the Marine Operations team and help ensure the operational readiness of our state‑of‑the‑art research vessels, submersibles, and personal fleet. The role supports critical logistical functions, including crew review processes, purchasing coordination, and operational documentation. Working closely with Marine Operations leadership and cross‑functional teams, the intern will assist with mid‑year and end‑of‑year crew review processes, procurement coordination, and administrative workflows that support seamless fleet operations. The program runs from June through August, about 40 hours per week, and operates on a hybrid schedule in our NYC office.LocationNew York CityDuties and ResponsibilitiesSupport the mid‑year crew review process and assist in organizing the launch of the end‑of‑year review process.Support purchasing and procurement functions across fleets to ensure seamless logistical coordination for expeditions.Perform general administrative tasks required to support the Marine Operations team and maintain operational documentation.Assist in streamlining procurement and administrative functions vital for operational readiness and crew welfare.Collaborate with science, media, and engineering teams to understand and support the interconnected nature of marine operations within a multidisciplinary organization.Willingness to be on the vessel.Additional duties as assigned.QualificationsActively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marine Operations, Marine Technology, Vessel Operations, or related fields.Experience supporting operational or logistical workflows, including procurement coordination, documentation management, or cross‑functional scheduling.Ability to engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams (Engineering, Science, Media).Familiarity or interest in complex marine logistics and maritime operations.Exposure to marine, vessel, or technical operations environments through coursework, internships, or hands‑on projects is a plus.Personal AttributesDetermined, resourceful, and practical; an independent, self‑starter with a "roll up your sleeves" attitude and strong work ethic.Agility, with a track record of getting things done.Organized, reliable, and meticulous.Ability to prioritize, meet tight deadlines, anticipate needs, and maintain high quality work.Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).Comfortable with ambiguity.Maintains high standards.Highly collaborative.General curiosity and passion for the ocean.CompensationCompensation for the role consists of a $20/hour wage.
