Surveillance Technician
Surveillance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, documentation, and regulatory integrity of the Video Management System (VMS) and related surveillance infrastructure. This position ensures continuous system uptime, redundancy, and compliance with applicable federal regulations, Tribal Gaming Commission standards, and approved surveillance procedures.
The role requires technical expertise, regulatory awareness, and strict adherence to access controls to preserve the integrity of the surveillance system.
Essential Duties
- Install, configure, and maintain all VMS components, including cameras, monitors, servers, storage arrays, network switches, and associated infrastructure.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize system downtime and operational disruption.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctioning or damaged surveillance equipment.
- Ensure all structured cabling meets industry standards (Cat6, fiber, etc.).
- Maintain working knowledge of TCP/IP networking principles relevant to surveillance systems.
- Support VLAN configuration and network segmentation consistent with regulatory controls.
- Monitor and maintain RAID storage systems and video retention architecture.
- Coordinate with IT personnel while preserving regulatory system segregation and access controls.
- Document all system changes, repairs, upgrades, and configuration adjustments.
- Maintain accurate logs and service records in accordance with Commission record retention policies.
- Assist in regulatory audits, compliance reviews, and vendor evaluations.
- Support disaster recovery testing and system continuity planning.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of surveillance equipment and replacement components.
- Track asset lifecycle, including installation dates, repairs, and disposal documentation.
- Consult with management and vendors regarding equipment specifications and technical upgrades.
- Provide temporary surveillance system coverage configurations as required to maintain compliance.
- Attend required departmental meetings and technical training sessions.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
- Perform additional related duties assigned by the TGC Technical Services Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience in surveillance technology, networking, or related IT field.
- Experience with IP-based camera systems and enterprise VMS platforms.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, switches, and VLAN configuration.
- Experience with server hardware and RAID-based storage systems.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards (Cat6, fiber).
- Valid Driver's License.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Tribal Gaming License.
- Must pass pre-employment background investigation and drug screening.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a regulated gaming environment.
- Industry certifications (CompTIA Network+, Security+, manufacturer certifications, etc.).
- Familiarity with surveillance system redundancy and disaster recovery protocols.
