Job Title - Dispatcher
Reports to - Warehouse Manager
Classification - Non-Exempt
Schedule - Monday Friday, 7:30 AM 4:30 PM / 40 hours a week
Summary/Objective
The Dispatcher position is responsible for ensuring that company owned/leased delivery vehicles are properly assigned, routed and tracked.
Essential Functions
- Monitors the daily delivery schedule
- Billing of customer loads, answering phones, auditing driver logs
- Checks for accuracy of invoice and load prior to departure
- Records all in and out times and availability of vehicles
- Assigns loads to drivers based on designated routes and driver locations
- Creates and maximizes capacity by ensuring productive use of all assets, equipment and drivers
- Ensures maximum productivity by achieving or exceeding Company-established goals by successfully routing vehicles
- Operate a forklift
- Help load and unload delivery trucks
- Make emergency deliveries if needed
Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Deadline-oriented
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
- Must be familiar with DOT hours of compliance
- Must be Class C certified and pass driver screening process
Supervisory Responsibility
The Dispatcher position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities.
Working Conditions
Work Environment
This position works in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday, as well as exposure to temperature extremes, moving machinery and loud noise. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must continuously stand or walk. Regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight from 5-20 lbs
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm. The employee must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- 2-5 years of experience
- HS Diploma or GED required
- Specialized skills training/certification may be required
