Job DescriptionRequired to work flexible hours and weekends, as assigned by the principal to provide maximum security coverage. Required to occasionally work overtime. Only candidates who completed the screening interview for this position with the Dept. School Safety & Security will be considered. Preference to bilingual English/Spanish candidates with working knowledge of safety procedures/practices; knowledge of behavior management techniques; investigative procedures; excellent written/oral communication skills. Wage range: $24.45 to $34.82 per hour based on years of service. Benefits information: DescriptionPositions in this class are assigned to the local school to assist the administration maintain a safe and secure learning environment for the school community. Under the general supervision of the security team leader, the assistant helps screen visitor access to school facilities, maintain student class attendance, and perform other responsibilities related to school security operations. The assistant receives guidance and assistance from the security team leader on more difficult or unusual situations.Physical and Special RequirementsPhysical Demands: Sufficient physical strength to intervene in fights and physically restrain persons; stamina to spend long periods walking and standing and to complete security patrol duties. Ability to patrol outdoors in inclement and extreme weather conditions.Special Requirements: Required to work flexible hours, including weekends, as assigned by the principal/security team leader to provide maximum security coverage. Required to occasionally work overtime.
