OverviewThe State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion is looking for a Corrections Counselor 1 who is motivated to inspire change. In this role, you help inmates build confidence, learn new abilities, and prepare for future success. Your efforts contribute to a safe and supportive correctional environment. Join a team where your guidance helps others move forward!ResponsibilitiesInmate Guidance: Interview inmates to support their adjustment and encourage positive problem‑solving.Case Records: Develop and maintain reports and documentation needed for managing caseloads.Assessment Review: Analyze test results and compile histories to support programming decisions.Team Coordination: Work with staff across disciplines to align treatment plans and objectives.Reentry Support: Assist with parole preparation and help secure identification and community resources.Work Schedule and Additional InformationFull‑time employment, 40 hours per week.Work hours: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.Telework: Not available for this position.Salary: Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.QualificationsThree years and six months as a corrections officer, and 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; orA bachelor's degree with 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 18 college credits in the above fields.Applicants who are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits will be considered to have met the educational requirements.Special RequirementYou must obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment.Other RequirementsSuccessful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.You must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
