Battalion Chief

Duties

Serves as Battalion Chief with responsibility for the operational readiness and organizational maintenance of fire fighting equipment.

Schedules workload for each 24-hour shift and checks on progress of work to be accomplished.

Responds with fire companies to fires, crash emergencies, emergency medical situations, and hazardous materials spills/situations.

Ensures all scheduled fire inspections and all associated reports are completed.

Instructs and drills fire fighters in basic and advanced fire fighting techniques ensuring all aspects of training subject meets minimum standards of applicable NFPA Professional Firefighter Qualification.
