Position Overview The Corrections Counselor 2 position at the Harrisburg Community Corrections Center offers a meaningful way to support reentrants as they move toward stable and successful futures. This role allows you to guide individuals through important steps in their reentry journey while building trust and confidence. You will help create a positive environment where goals are set, progress is made, and challenges are handled with strong support. Be part of a team that values compassion, problem solving, and dedication to helping others grow!Responsibilities Assist reentrants in setting and achieving goals related to employment, education, housing, and community involvement.Conduct crisis assessments, provide guidance during urgent situations, and make appropriate referrals.Lead workshops, discussions, and support groups that reinforce pro‑social behavior and positive decision making.Apply intervention methods such as motivational interviewing and other structured tools to guide progress.Connect reentrants to social service agencies and participate in meetings, hearings, and community outreach.Maintain accurate electronic case files, record progress, and comply with all required standards and policies.Work Schedule and Additional Information Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week.Work hours are 12:00PM to 8:30PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age50 or 55.Telework: Not available.Salary: Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.Qualifications Successful completion of the Corrections Counselor1 training program or one year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility and a bachelor's degree (including 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field).Obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment.Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.Meet PA residency requirement.Be able to perform essential job functions.Legal Requirements Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.Veteran Preference Pennsylvania law (51 Pa.
