PAID ON THE JOB TRAINING
EMS Call Takers & Dispatchers - Be the First Link in the Chain of Saving Lives!
At Medstar, saving lives and providing care starts the second the phone rings. Our Call Takers are the first voice people hear when they're facing their worst moments-calmly gathering vital details, reassuring callers, working with clinical partners, and setting lifesaving help in motion.
Right beside them, our Dispatchers are the nerve center of operations-coordinating vehicles, tracking crews, and relaying every crucial detail so EMTs and Paramedics arrive ready to act.
This is where split-second decisions matter. This is where you make a difference.
What You'll Do
- Call Takers: Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, collect critical information, guide callers through immediate steps, and ensure crews get the right details fast.
- Dispatchers: Monitor and direct units in real time, maintain optimal coverage across our service area, and keep teams connected and informed on the move.
- Be on the front line of emergency care without riding in the ambulance.
- Work with a tight-knit, mission-driven team who has your back.
- Receive comprehensive training so you can handle any call with confidence.
- Know that every shift, every call, every decision matters.
- Clear, confident communicators who can stay calm under pressure.
- Quick thinkers with strong attention to detail.
- Team players who take pride in being the backbone of the EMS system.
If you are ambitious, motivated, positive, and energetic, we want you to join our Communication Center. At Medstar, we take pride in our core values:
- Quality of Service
- Compassion
- Teamwork
- Integrity
