Summary You will serve as a Supervisory Firefighter in the Fire Suppression Division of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA. Responsibilities You will perform administrative supervisory functions to include timekeeping of assigned personnel and planning work schedules to meet requirements established byhigher levels of supervision. You will direct firefighting crew in the operation of firefighting vehicles and equipment. You will supervise a crew of three or more firefighters, including at least one firefighter assigned to a major firefighting apparatus such as a pumper, aerial ladder truck, etc in support of their assigned duties. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I & II, Fire Officer I & II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, HAZMAT Awareness, Operations, Technician, HAZMAT Incident Commander, Driver Operator Pumper, and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Basic certification. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications you will be rated ineligible. Copies of Certifications MUST be submitted with your application. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: detecting fire hazards (potential and immediate) and determining corrective action; operating firefighting vehicles and equipment in accordance with principles of hydraulics and firefighting techniques; providing emergency assistance (first aid, HAZMAT, etc.) in accordance with safety standards and regulations; applying the theory of fire propagation and progression to reduce fire hazards and/or combat fires; and leading a crew of firefighters (i.e., directing drills, assigning work, etc.).
