Code Enforcement Administrator

The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Code Enforcement Administrator in the Housing Division to perform field inspections of properties to ensure compliance applicable zoning and nuisance codes, ordinances and regulations; and, perform various related technical duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Inspect single family homes, apartment buildings and other residential and commercial buildings and property including overgrown yards and lots with trash/debris and substandard and condemnable structures; ensure compliance with applicable zoning and nuisance codes, ordinances and regulations; perform follow-up inspections as necessary.

Prepare, review and issue notices and citations to non-complying responsible persons.

Perform research to determine the approved conditional uses of property; research owners, tax records and maps and take actions to enforce city codes.

Patrol streets and perform inspections of properties and improvements to determine compliance with zoning, property maintenance, building or health and safety requirements; issue notices of violation as necessary.

Secure and process paperwork for demolition of condemned properties after presentation and approval by the City Council; receive and review contractor bids for lot cleaning services.

Participate in a variety of travel within city limits including site inspection and title investigations.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: One year of municipal code enforcement or governmental regulatory inspection experience. Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in, code enforcement, law enforcement, construction technology, or a related field. Licensing & Certifications Required: Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurability. Preferred: None. From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
