Job Opening: High School Firefighting Instructor ??
Location: WINTER SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL
Are you a certified firefighter with a passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of emergency responders? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Firefighting Instructor to lead our high school Firefighting Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.
Key Responsibilities:
  • -Teach firefighting fundamentals, safety procedures, and emergency response techniques
  • -Develop lesson plans aligned with state CTE standards
  • -Supervise hands-on training and live demonstrations
  • -Prepare students for certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and Firefighter I
  • -Collaborate with local fire departments for field experiences and mentorships
? Qualifications:
  • Requirement 1:
  • Must be certified as a fire fighter by the Division of State Fire Marshal, Bureau of Fire Standards and Training,
  • AND
  • Requirement 2:
  • A minimum of two (2) years of occupational experience or the equivalent in part-time experience in fire fighting occupations.
  • OR
  • A minimum of six years of occupational experience or the equivalent in part-time experience in fire fighting occupations.
  • Special Note:
  • Instructor must have and maintain Florida Fire Instructor Certification issued by the Division of State Fire Marshal, Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. In accordance with IAW 69A37-065, F.A.C.
In accordance with Florida Statute 633.128 and Rule 69A-37.055 of the Florida Administrative Code, candidates must meet the training and certification standards established by the Department of Financial Services, Division of State Fire Marshal. These standards are administered through the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training (BFST), which sets and maintains the minimum requirements for firefighter and volunteer firefighter employment and training, as well as the certification of training schools and instructors.

Note: The Fire Academy curriculum frameworks are subject to updates and revisions by the BFST based on changes to Florida Statutes or Administrative Code provisions.
