Dispatcher

SCOPE OF JOB:

The Dispatch Manager is responsible for scheduling and dispatching workers, work crews, and equipment to appropriate locations in accordance with customer requests.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare daily and run schedules.
  • Determine type and amount of equipment needed to complete a job.
  • Communicate with customers regarding scheduling, crews, and equipment for their projects.
  • Monitor personnel and equipment locations.
  • Maintain files and records of work orders completed.
  • Meet with Sales team to develop a project plan for execution and completion.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with drivers and helpers to facilitate teamwork and collaboration.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Dispatch experience required.
  • Knowledge of the traffic control industry preferred.
  • Basic computer and electronic skills.
  • Ability to read traffic control plans preferred.
  • Administration and management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Stress management; ability to work under constant pressure.
  • Effective time management skills.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school degree or equivalent education/experience preferred.
  • Five years of experience in the traffic control industry preferred.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sedentary primarily sitting at a desk for the majority of the day; occasional movement inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Occasionally exerts up to 10 pounds of force, and frequently or constantly exerts a negligible amount of force, to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office equipment such as a calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
  • Visual acuity is constantly required to ensure the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Constantly communicates with customers and employees in other departments. Must be able to exchange accurate information verbally and in writing.
