The Menifee Police Department is excited to announce its promotional Sergeant recruitment! Qualified candidates will be required to undergo a multi-faceted process prior to filling this integral position within our organization.This is a promotional opportunity for current Menifee Police Department employees only.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university (or 60 semester/90 quarter college units leading to a Bachelor's degree). Coursework in Police Science, Criminal Justice Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, is desirable.
- At least five (5) years of service as a full-time, sworn peace officer with a public agency including at least 2 years of patrol and/or investigations experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid California POST Basic Certificate or California POST Basic Course Waiver.
- Possession of a valid California POST Intermediate Certificate or out-of-state equivalency. A California POST Intermediate Certificate must be obtained within 18 months of appointment if using an out-of-state equivalency to meet minimum qualifications.
- Possession of a valid California POST Advanced Certificate is desirable.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must currently be employed as a Menifee Police Officer in good standing and must have successfully completed probation.
- Must possess U.S. Citizenship at time of appointment.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
The Police Sergeant examination process will be discussed at this informational meeting. Attendance at this meeting is not required to apply for or participate in the examination process. Applicants possessing the required qualifications will be invited to participate in the examination process. All qualified applicants will be assessed on job-relevant qualifications, including possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the Sergeant position; ability to perform essential job functions; and related education, training, and experience. Qualified candidates will receive information related to specific dates and times for each section of the examination and selection process.
Sergeant Recruitment Timeline:
- Posting opens: Thursday, Aug. 13 th
- Posting closes: Sunday, Aug 23 rd @ 11:59PM
- Testing to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 26 th : written test.
- 360 eval. To be sent after test results come back
- Assessment Center: Approx. Monday, Sept. 14 th
- Assessment # 1 - Verbal Resume/Autobiography
- Assessment #2 - Mock Tasks
- Assessment #3 - Panel Interview
- HR to provide rating matrix with detailed justifications
- Eligibility list to be established around Monday, Sept. 21 st
- Chief interviews to be scheduled at a later date.
Eligibility List
- Candidates who successfully complete all phases of the selection process will be placed on an eligibility list. Current and future vacancies will be filled from this list. The eligibility list typically lasts for twelve (12) months but may be extended or abolished in accordance with the City’s established Personnel Rules & Regulations.

The City of Menifee is located in southwestern Riverside County approximately 30 miles southeast of the City of Riverside, California. The city encompasses approximately 50 square miles with an overall population of 91,902.
Interstate 215 traverses north and south through the center of Menifee, with existing community commercial areas located primarily along Newport, Bradley, and McCall Roads off of I-215.

The City of Menifee includes the communities of: Sun City, Quail Valley, and portions of Romoland. The city is generally bordered on the north, west, and south by the cities of:

History of Menifee Roads
In the 1940's many of the Menifee roads that you see today were given a "family name." These names could be traced back to an early settler of Menifee who had owned a property in a specific location. The list of Menifee roads has a unique history and is a part of Menifee’s culture today.

Early Inhabitants
The area was originally inhabited by the Luiseno and Pechanga Indian tribes, and in the 1700s, the area fell under the rule of the Spanish empire. The area was eventually annexed into the United States from Mexico in 1850 under California's statehood.
Farming activity beginning in the mid-1800s was concentrated in the Menifee area. Mining activity began in the early 1880s with the discovery of a significant quartz lode by miner Luther Menifee Wilson. Menifee derived its name from that mining operation.
Early Development
Early development of the City of Menifee began with Sun City in the early 1960s as the concept of an active retirement community that was envisioned by Del Webb, a major building contractor from Phoenix, Arizona. Sun City is centrally located within the City of Menifee with a mix of residential and commercial activity.
The Menifee area began to grow further in 1989 with the master-planned community of Menifee Lakes and continues to be one of the fastest growing communities in California. Quail Valley is a semi-rural residential community in the northwestern section of the city, and Romoland is a residential and commercial community located in the northeastern section of the city.
Schools
Elementary and middle school education in the City of Menifeeare provided by the Menifee Union School District and the Romoland School District. High school education is provided by the Perris Union High School District. The City of Menifee is also home to Mt. San Jacinto College. The Menifee campus serves the Temecula, Murrieta, and Menifee area.
Incorporation of the City
On June 3, 2008, the residents of the communities encompassing the City of Menifee voted to incorporate Menifee into Riverside County's 26th city. The new City of Menifee was officially established on October 1, 2008.
