Internship Opportunity The City of Indio Economic Development Department is looking for two highly energetic and motivated self-starters to serve in the position of Indio Business Connect Intern. Applicants get the opportunity to learn and develop skills in the following areas:Business Welcome: Serve as the first point of contact at the Indio Business Connect (IBC) Center by greeting entrepreneurs, business owners, and community members, providing information about available programs, services, workshops, and business resources.Business Resource: Assist visitors with City and partner resources by answering general questions, directing them to the appropriate contact, and helping connect them with available resources.IBC Center Coordination: Schedule conference rooms and meeting spaces for business workshops and partners. Maintain calendars and ensure booked spaces are ready for use.Business Tracking: Maintain records of visitor activity, including appointments with CVWBC and use of IBC Center.Economic Development Exposure: Gain hands-on experience in municipal economic development by learning how local government supports business attraction, retention, expansion, entrepreneurship, and commercial revitalization efforts.Administrative Support: Assist with maintaining business resource materials, updating databases, and supporting the daily operations of the IBC Center.Professional Development: Develop practical skills in customer service, business communications, office administration, data management, and public section operations while working alongside the Economic Development staff and community partners.SCHEDULE: The Program is a temporary position not to exceed 40 hours per week. Typical work week will typically be approximately 20 hours per week. Interns will be given the opportunity to work flexible hours and select from a morning or afternoon schedule. The working times must be within the days of Monday through Friday from the hours of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and may include evenings and weekend depending on events. Interns working five (5) hours per day must take a minimum thirty (30) minute/ maximum sixty (60) minute, non-paid lunch break. Fellows working eight (8) hours per day will be given two 15-minute breaks and must take a hour non-paid lunch break.
