Training Sme
The Training SME oversees user training, adoption readiness, communications, and organizational change activities required to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Product Delivery Services (PDS), Benefits and Memorials (BAM), Memorial and Benefit Services (MBS) deliver secure, reliable, and effective Information Technology (IT) solutions that support the Department's mission.
Responsibilities
- Ensures VA staff, stakeholders, and end users receive clear, accurate training; are prepared for new releases; and have the documentation and communications needed to successfully adopt modernized system capabilities
- Develop training materials, user guides, and functional guidance supporting user adoption of new or enhanced capabilities.
- Update User Guides after each release to ensure new and modified features are clearly documented.
- Provide system training and functional SME support across Product Lines and environments
- Facilitate communications campaign support to adopt new features and systems.
- Identify and manage user expectations around implementation scope, business process impacts, and readiness requirements.
- Support post-release end-user engagement, customer engagement sessions, and user readiness activities
- Contribute to training materials, documentation updates, and operational knowledge transfer required at release and contract transition.
- Support transition activities by ensuring knowledge artifacts, documentation, and operational responsibilities are transferred to the Government
- Participate in planning activities such as Sprint Planning, PI Planning, UAT, and post-release activities to align training with delivery milestones
- Support implementation communication campaigns; conduct end-user engagement and field visits; ensure adoption of new features; collect feedback for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science or an IT-related degree with 7-10 years' experience
- Experience developing user training materials, user guides, job aids, and functional reference documentation.
- Experience planning and executing communications campaigns for technology adoption.
- Experience supporting Agile ceremonies (Sprints, PI planning, UAT, Sprint Reviews) and aligning OCM activities with delivery cycles.
- Experience supporting onboarding, access preparation, and documentation governance.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Public Trust
Preferred:
- Familiarity with VA/NCA; Section 508; software implementation/change management
