Position Summary

NOAA is seeking a Federal Records & FOIA Support Specialist to support protected-resources programs through federal records management, FOIA support, administrative-record preparation, and document control. The successful candidate will organize and maintain high-volume electronic and hardcopy records while ensuring documents are accurate, traceable, secure, and readily retrievable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and maintain federal program, regulatory, and administrative records.
  • Support FOIA requests through document searches, collection, organization, and tracking.
  • Compile administrative records supporting regulatory, environmental, offshore energy, and infrastructure activities.
  • Assist with litigation-related administrative record preparation.
  • Reconcile and clean up electronic shared drives and hardcopy project files.
  • Maintain consistent file naming, folder structures, document indexes, and tracking logs.
  • Perform document quality-control and identify missing, duplicate, or misfiled records.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with federal requirements.
  • Use approved government systems, repositories, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with government and contractor personnel to locate and organize records.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience managing high-volume records, case files, administrative records, or document repositories.
  • Experience conducting document searches and maintaining traceable document collections.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and quality control.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, shared drives, SharePoint, or similar document-management tools.
  • Ability to obtain required NACI/DOC credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Federal records-management or FOIA experience.
  • Litigation or legal-document support experience.
  • Administrative-record preparation experience.
  • Experience with federal, environmental, scientific, regulatory, or NOAA programs.


This is a remote position.

Compensation: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
