Military and Family Life Counselor

Summary

Leidos, a global leader in defense and intelligence solutions, is seeking a Military and Family Life Counselor to support service members and their families. In this role, you will provide non-medical, short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation to address stress, deployment, relationship, and family challenges. You will collaborate with command leadership and installation resources, maintain strict confidentiality within program guidelines, and deliver outreach, training, and preventive services. Responsibilities

• Provide on site, non medical, short term counseling to adult service members, spouses, and other eligible family members to address stress, relationship issues, deployment challenges, grief, and everyday life concerns.
• Deliver individual, couples, and family sessions using evidence informed, solution focused approaches that promote resilience and healthy coping within the military community.
• Conduct outreach across the installation, building trusted relationships with commands, unit leadership, community partners, and support organizations to promote awareness of counseling services.
• Facilitate psychoeducational briefings, workshops, and small group sessions on topics such as stress management, communication skills, reintegration, parenting, and suicide awareness.
• Support service members and families across the deployment cycle, including pre deployment preparation, during deployment support, and post deployment reintegration.
• Perform risk assessments and safety planning for individuals experiencing acute stress, suicidal ideation, intimate partner conflict, or other high risk situations, following Do
• D and Leidos protocols for reporting and referral.
• Collaborate with command, chaplains, medical, and family support programs to coordinate care, while maintaining client confidentiality within applicable regulations and policies.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant activity records, statistics, and narrative summaries in secure Leidos and customer systems, adhering to program standards and quality expectations.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of military culture, chain of command, and operational tempo to tailor counseling, communication, and outreach to each unit's unique environment.
• Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development opportunities provided by Leidos to maintain clinical competencies and awareness of current best practices.
• Uphold Leidos' values of ethical conduct, diversity and inclusion, collaboration, and community engagement while serving as a visible, professional representative of the company on the installation.
• Adapt flexibly to changing mission requirements, schedules, and locations within the installation or region, ensuring consistent and accessible support to service members and families.
