Summary
Crossing Guard
The crossing guard will provide assistance to students at specified crosswalks, promoting safe pedestrian traffic procedures.
Performance responsibilities include completing crosswalk training program before assuming responsibility for the crosswalk, establishing and maintaining good student conduct at the crosswalk, stopping oncoming traffic by raising a red hand-carried stop sign, entering the crosswalk with the children, assuring that students walk in the crosswalk, remaining on crossing site on the side of the street where children will be crossing, being on duty at the designated times to promote timely routines for children, reporting unsafe student behavior in or near the crosswalk to the school principal, reporting the license number of vehicles that violate school zone safety regulations, setting up crossing signs as needed, attending in-service training for continued professional development, and performing other job-related duties as assigned.
Skills/knowledge/abilities include good physical condition, including adequate vision and hearing, necessary to fulfill performance responsibilities, and knowledge and command of English to understand oral and written instructions in order to complete check lists and simple forms.
Working conditions are outside in all types of weather and exposure to vehicular traffic, noise, and exhaust fumes.
Terms of employment are for a nine-month year, classified hourly salary schedule, and employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
Salary is classified hourly salary schedule, level A | entry level: $15.50/hr.
