Collects and analyzes information regarding criminal activity to providestrategic and tactical intelligence products to assist in deploying resources and planning operational activities in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations. Provide support to agency administration in reporting crime trends and alerts throughout theagency and to other law enforcement agencies. Reports to Crime Intel Supervisor or other designated person and works with the general public, business representatives, judges, attorneys, health care representatives, co-workers, and law enforcement representatives from federal, state, and local agencies to provide analytical law enforcement support.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDSPrepares reports detailing crime using variables of time and location.Analyzes monthly crime statistics to identify crime trends.Prepares crime analysis reports for use in the decision-making process for administrators and supervisors.Coordinates the gathering, analysis, and dissemination of information through the intelligence process.POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDEInvestigating crime trends, patterns, and information via computer systems to aid in deployment of personnel.Accurately document criminal activity trends and patterns for use by supervisors, investigators, and deputies.EducationHigh School Diploma or G.E.D.Experiences2+ years of experience in crime analysis work in a federal, state, local, tribal, or private sector intelligence or law enforcement entity; demonstrated familiarity with the intelligence cycle (collection, analysis, and dissemination).Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesConsiderable knowledge of federal and state laws, penal codes, constitutional guidelines, local ordinances, and departmental rules and regulations, county geographical area, criminal investigation methods, judicial processes and proceedings, computer systems and operation, and methods of interpreting crime data.Proficiency in using software and computer systems such as GIS, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.Good communication skills, both oral and written.Demonstrated ability to work independently.SkillsVast knowledge of computer, computer systems, and related equipment.CertificationObtain and maintain GCIC certification, 28 CFR Part 23 Certification, Civilian Position during employment.Some positions may requireMay supervise and/or train designated subordinate personnel.OTHERPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSDepending upon area of assignment:Positions in this class typically requirestanding, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, restraining persons and repetitive motions.
