Crossing Guard

Crossing guards assist students with safely crossing busy roads during before and after school times, approximately 7:00 - 9:00 am and 2:30 - 4:00 pm daily.

Qualifications:

• Must have a positive attitude
• Must be self-motivated
• Must have good interpersonal skills
• Must enjoy working with students
• Student safety high priority
• Availability for beginning and ending of school day times
• Must enjoy working outdoors
• Willingness to train for position

Essential Job Functions:

• Wear all provided personal protective equipment and uniform
• Operate handheld and/or roadway signs
• Establish and maintain a safe environment for all students
• Perform any other duties or responsibilities designated by the supervisor or building administrator

Regular and consistent attendance is required

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate but distractions can be frequent due to building traffic.

Mental Functions: Must maintain constant vigil and cognitive awareness of student activity and environmental hazards in a high-stimulus setting. Ability to maintain professional composure and exercise sound judgment during stressful or emergency situations, including student outbursts or mechanical failures.
