Summary

EPI is looking for part-time, unarmed security staff in Charleston, SC. These positions will provide unarmed security to the College of Charleston at various campus locations. Primary work will be Friday-Sunday nights for the hours of 10:30pm-7:00am. Unarmed security staff must currently have or be able to obtain a SLED security guard card within 30 days of employment. SLED unarmed guard card must be obtained through EPI, which we will cover the cost of a new card. Individuals will also have the opportunity to work other nights in addition to certain major events as needed through our event staff branch.

Employees will be trained on or should have a basic knowledge of:

Understanding the Higher Education legal and regulatory environment (e.g.: Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 (Title IX); The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act); Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act, etc.)

Requirements:

  • You must hold a SLED Unarmed Guard certification throughout employment.
  • Must be available to work Overnight hours as the contract requires.
  • Must be able to adhere to specific instructions and post orders.
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
  • Security Officers will be required to subject all visitors to the identification and control measures established by the College of Charleston (College), Department of Public Safety (DPS), without exception.
  • Security officers will be required to have all visitors sign-in upon entering the building.
  • Security coverage shall be defined as the prevention of loss of property or harm to students and/or personnel by monitoring for fire, theft, vandalism, or unauthorized persons conducting themselves in an unsafe or unruly manner.
  • Security Officers will be responsible for using College provided software system to complete any required reports, logs, and/or forms, and for maintaining the DPS sign- in sheet during his/her shift.
  • Report any unusual incidents or hazardous conditions as soon as possible to DPS. These may include, but not be limited to, fire, criminal activity, theft, chemical spills, telephone outage, power outage, equipment malfunction, etc. This is also to include any formal complaints and/or concerns brought to their attention by any students, faculty, visitors, vendors, etc.


Pay for these positions will be $22/hr.
