Position

The Penndel Borough Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-Time Police Officer. Recently retired Police Officers are encouraged to apply.

This is a law enforcement position responsible for providing patrol and public safety services throughout the Borough. Officers will respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, conduct proactive patrols and traffic enforcement, investigate incidents, assist members of the public, and work collaboratively with other officers and law enforcement agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct routine and proactive patrols throughout Penndel Borough.
Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
Enforce local, state, and federal laws.
Conduct traffic enforcement and investigate motor vehicle crashes.
Conduct preliminary investigations and assist with crime scene investigations.
Prepare clear, accurate, and thorough incident and investigative reports.
Maintain professional and positive interactions with residents, businesses, and visitors.
Provide assistance, information, and other community services as appropriate.
Maintain situational awareness and respond appropriately to rapidly changing circumstances.
Work cooperatively with neighboring law enforcement agencies and other emergency service providers.
Attend required training and maintain all necessary certifications.
Properly maintain department-issued equipment, firearms, vehicles, and uniforms.
Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of a municipal police officer.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

Possess a current Pennsylvania Act 120 certification through the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) prior to appointment.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Demonstrate strong observational skills, sound judgment, and situational awareness.
Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability to professionally interact with members of the public and effectively de-escalate conflicts.
Demonstrate a commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism, and community-oriented policing.
Be proficient with basic computer systems and willing to learn department-specific law enforcement software and technology.
Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely perform the duties of a police officer.
Be capable of safely performing duties in varying weather and environmental conditions.
Be willing and available to work varied shifts, including evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Prior municipal police experience is preferred but not required. Relevant college coursework or a degree in criminal justice or a related field is also beneficials.
