Summary
Brief Job Description: Under general supervision of the Police Chief, the successful candidate will enforce laws, preserve the peace, apprehend criminals, and investigate traffic accidents to fulfill the mission statement through relational policing services. The successful candidate will report directly to the Sergeant. Routine course of action to be followed is generally clear-cut and specific in accordance with established Texas Best Practices Police Department policies; however, the successful candidate must be able to act quickly in emergencies and make independent decisions. Position requires constant contact with the public in situations that will require the use of tact, diplomacy, and good judgment.Salary/Benefits: Annual salary, starting $45,000-$55,000, is based on experience and qualifications have a step increase depending on years of experience. The Valley Mills Police Department also offers certificate pay as well as certification incentive pay. A take home car for officers may be provided at the Chief's discretion depending on response time to city limits.This position is a non-exempt position. The City of Valley Mills offers Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, TMRS 401K Retirement plan, Paid Time Off and 12 paid Holidays during the calendar year.The Valley Mills Police Department is searching for a Certified Texas Peace Officer with an Intermediate level TCOLE Peace Officers License.
