Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; two years of clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge of Federal and state laws, rules, regulations, ordinances and procedures related to the registration of voters and administration of absentee voting in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Regularly work under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines

Awareness or use of VERIS

Ability to interpret and understand Election law.

Confident team member with excellent verbal and written communications

Effectively represent the General Registrar in responding to inquiries and providing information and assistance in absentee voting and voter registration.

Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.

Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Duties

Assign Officer of Election workers to satellite locations for a period of 14 to 45 days of early voting.

Manage daily schedules of officers of elections during early voting

Serve as the primary contact person for early voting schedules.

Process vote by mail applications in the Virginia Election and Registration System.

Work closely with voter registration staff for updating, adding and deleting absentee information.

Assist with local, state and federal elections, as assigned in accordance with state and federal election laws.

Performs other work as required.

This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications and experience.

Shift

Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; includes some evenings and weekends
