Be a Critical Link in Justice! Evidence Technician OpportunityThe Charleston County Sheriff's Office is seeking a meticulous and highly organized Evidence Technician (Temporary) to join our Criminal Investigations Division. This vital role provides essential administrative and technical support to the Paralegal, ensuring the integrity of investigations through careful evidence management. As an integral part of our team, you'll be responsible for managing the evidence compound, tracking seized property, facilitating transfers, and utilizing digital tools to maintain a secure chain of custody.HOURLY RANGE: $22.68 - $26.18This position requires approximately 20 hours per week. The assigned workload and hours may be adjusted as needed to meet agency requirements. Works hours shall be Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 3:00 pm, as determined by the Supervisor.THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION AND THERE ARE NO BENEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TEMPORARY POSITION.APPLICATION DEADLINE: SUNDAY, AUGUST 30, 2026.What You'll Do:Meticulously log seized property and maintain accurate records.Manage vehicle storage and disposal through the GovDeals platform.Contribute to maintaining a secure environment for vital evidence.Utilize computer systems to track and document all processes.What We're Looking For:A detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Must be comfortable with computer systems and possess excellent communication skills.QUALIFICATIONS:U.S. CitizenMust have a High School Diploma or GEDHonorably discharged from the military (if applicable).Have no pending cases or criminal felony convictions (misdemeanors may require expungement).No THC or Marijuana use within 365 days; some drugs are automatic disqualifiers.No student loans in default status.Must be able to demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft 365.The Nelson-Denny Reading Test, a two-phase background investigation, a credit check, a psychological examination/evaluation, a polygraph examination, an oral interview, and upon an offer of employment, a pre-employment physical examination will be required.Must possess a valid SC Driver's license or ability to obtain one prior to hire and meet the requirements of the County's motor vehicle policy.#J-18808-Ljbffr
