Job Description Job Description Position SummaryLegacy Solutions is seeking an experienced and engaging Part-Time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Instructor to provide high-quality instruction to high school students participating in an EMT/health sciences career pathway program in the North Fort Lauderdale area.
The ideal candidate will combine practical emergency medical services experience with a passion for educating and mentoring young people. The instructor will introduce students to emergency medical services, patient care, safety, professionalism, and other EMT-related concepts while providing an engaging, hands-on learning environment.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Part-Time EMT Instructor will:Provide classroom and hands-on instruction to high school students in EMT and emergency medical services concepts.
Teach students foundational skills related to patient assessment, emergency response, CPR/BLS, medical and trauma emergencies, infection control, safety, communication, and professionalism.
Demonstrate appropriate use of emergency medical equipment and procedures.
Facilitate simulations, skills demonstrations, scenarios, and other hands-on learning activities.
Maintain an organized, professional, safe, and student-centered classroom environment.
Assess student understanding and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and other required instructional documentation.
Encourage students' interest in careers in EMS, healthcare, public safety, and related fields.
Model professionalism, ethical conduct, teamwork, communication, and appropriate patient-care standards.
Collaborate with school administrators, program coordinators, and Legacy Solutions as needed.
Follow all school, district, program, safety, and student-supervision requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should possess:Current or recent professional experience as an EMT, Paramedic, or other appropriately qualified emergency medical services professional.
Appropriate current Florida EMS license/certification for the instructional responsibilities assigned.
Current CPR/BLS certification, as applicable.
Strong knowledge of emergency medical services practices, patient care, safety, and professional standards.
Ability to communicate technical information in a manner that high school students can understand.
Strong classroom presentation, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to successfully complete all required background screening, fingerprinting, and school-based clearance requirements prior to assignment.
Preferred QualificationsPrevious teaching, training, precepting, coaching, or mentoring experience is strongly preferred. Experience working with high school students, career and technical education programs, EMT students, healthcare training programs, or youth development programs is also desirable.
