All law enforcement, EMS and fire agencies within Chippewa County are dispatched through the Communication Center.Chippewa County Communication Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Dispatchers work 12-hour day shifts (6:00 am – 6:00 pm) or night shifts (6:00 pm – 6:00 am) which includes weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency call-ins.Open positions may be assigned to either shift depending on staffing needs. Shift assignments and preferences are managed through a seniority-based process. Candidates must be willing and able to work either days or nights, as well as weekends and holidays.Successful Candidates Will Possess Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to learn and use GPS and GIS data relating to county landmarks, roads and businessesAbility to respond in a calm, level-headed manner, thinking quickly in the midst of stressful situationsPassion to serve the community and their team members with professionalism and respectMinimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Previous emergency services dispatch experience, 911 training and previous experience working in a 24/7 environment are preferred. CPR Certification and Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification are preferred. Time System Certification is required within one (1) year of hire.
