Summary

Immigration Advisor F-1

To foster a welcoming and supportive environment for international students by providing information and support on F-1 immigration status issues. To serve as Designated School Official (DSO) for the university's F-1 international student program. To advocate for international students by assisting with academic and/or administrative issues that interfere with the accomplishment of their educational and career goals. To advise international students on matters of immigration compliance and university policy. This role will serve as an immigration advisor helping F1 student to apply for extensions of stay through USCIS or via travel; as well as assisting with work authorization requests and SEVIS updates. The position will work with both current international UAB students and those working on post completion OPT after completing their UAB degree. (Hourly Rate: $16.50 - $26.80)

Bachelor's degree in International Studies, Pre-Law, Higher Education or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident as required by federal regulations for certification as a Designated School Official (DSO).
