Essential Functions/Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

General expectations for all employees include understanding how team, department, and City goals are interconnected, contributing to a positive work culture, maintaining regular and reliable attendance, and continuously learning and developing through training opportunities. Essential duties and responsibilities include complying with city policies, providing assistance and service to the public, exercising independent judgment in law enforcement activities, enforcing traffic laws, performing considerable reporting and record maintenance duties, attending in-service training, and communicating effectively with various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of previous experience as a peace officer, possession of a Basic Peace Officer Certificate from the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement (TCOLE), and meeting conditions of employment such as passing a drug screen, background check, psychological exam, and polygraph examination. Additionally, candidates must be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years old, possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license, and complete the McKinney Marshals Office In-house Field Training program within six months of employment.

Physical Demands/Supplemental

Physical demands include talking and hearing over two-thirds of the time, sitting, standing, walking, using hands to handle objects, lifting up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting up to 100+ pounds. Special vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work environment may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and high, precarious places.
