Summary

Sr Airport Screening Operations ConsultantAs a Sr Airport Screening Operations Consultant, you'll help shape the airport infrastructure that keeps Customers and checked baggage moving safely and efficiently throughout their journey. You'll lead the planning, design, and continuous improvement of Southwest's Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) and airport security checkpoints, using operational data and industry expertise to identify needs and recommend long-term solutions. Partnering closely with Ground Operations, TSA, Airport Authorities, project teams, and vendors, you'll influence BHS design decisions, improve operations and maintenance processes, and develop roadmaps that strengthen system reliability, performance, and cost efficiency. You'll also evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to help Southwest modernize its airport capabilities and prepare for future growth. Through strategic planning, technical expertise, and strong stakeholder relationships, your work will directly improve baggage movement, Customer flow, operational performance, and the overall travel experience across Southwest's network.This Atlanta region-based role is offered as a remote workplace position. Team Members are expected to travel to stations and locations throughout the region, as needed, to support business operations, trainings, meetings, conferences, and other work-related activities. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your work may be performed from an approved remote location within the region.U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.ResponsibilitiesLead meetings with various Airports and TSA Leaders to address discrepancies in system performance, capabilities and develop solutions across all partiesProactively engage and identify opportunities with project design and specifications to identify adjustments and ensure all bag systems meet the Planning Guidelines, Design Standards and Company GuidelinesPartner with project managers and external project groups to provide BHS design recommendationsCollaborate with Ground Operations, TSA, and Airport Authorities to create roadmaps and maximize the efficiency of the baggage handling system, Operations & Maintenance processes and security checkpointsCompile and analyze data/reports to create recommendations and forecast narratives for future infrastructure needs or stakeholder requestsEvaluate and present emerging trends as potential solutions to enhance current processes for security checkpoints and baggage handling systemsEvaluate vendor processes and programs to develop implementation plans to advance opportunities for performance improvement, efficiency, and minimize costsDevelop and maintain relationships with industry partners to advance ideas, concepts and deliver emerging trends which align with strategic visionPropose recommendations based on research and analysis to drive business decisions with long-term strategiesMay perform other job duties as directed by Employee's LeaderKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of Program Guidelines and Design Standards (PGDS) and Checkpoint Requirements and Guidelines (CPRG) documentsKnowledge of industry design practices for BHS and Security Screening Checkpoints (SSCP) to ensure Company BHS design recommendations are incorporated into final design packagesSkilled in identifying problems and collecting necessary data to implement solutionsSkilled in interpreting BHS reports, internal databases, reporting systems and other tools to assess system capabilities to formulate tactical and strategic plans to address issues and take advantage of opportunitiesAbility to select appropriate internal tools (BHS reports, internal tool, models, reports, etc.) to support various positions and create solutions for issues related to BHS and SSCPSkilled in advance problem-solving skills using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknessesAbility to create a strategy and proactively share with the broad base of stakeholders to gain consensus to advance the wellbeing of the CompanyAbility to navigate and critique BHS designs and construction drawingsEducationRequired: High School Diploma or GEDExperienceExpert level experience, expansive and far-reaching knowledge in:BHS operations and maintenance contract oversightCommunication and engagement with Senior/Executive level LeadershipDesign review, and modifications with project designTSA policies/processes around BHS and SSCPStakeholder engagement (i.e. Airports, Consortiums, TSA)Licensing/CertificationMust be able to obtain a SIDA (Secured Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirementsPhysical AbilitiesAbility to perform work duties from limited space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods of timeAbility to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the jobAbility to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the jobAbility to raise/move/transport 100 lbs. on an occasional basis (under 50%)Ability to operate motorized vehicles/equipmentOther QualificationsMust maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelinesMust be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986Must be at least 18 years of ageMust be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelinesAbility to travel a minimum of 2 to 3 times each week which may require overnight stays to support Company needsPay & Benefits:Competitive market salary from $ 114,200 to $126,900 per year* depending on qualifications and experience.
