Job Description
The responsibilities of an Estimator:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for federal construction projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documentation to develop accurate pricing
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors throughout the DC market
- Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor bids
- Support preconstruction efforts and participate in bid strategy discussions
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Estimating and project teams throughout the estimating process
- Mentor and help develop a junior estimator on the team
- Assist in identifying project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
- Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within deadline requirements
- Utilize Bluebeam, Adobe, and Microsoft Office to support estimating activities
The Successful Applicant
A successful Estimator should have:
- 5-7+ years of estimating experience within a General Contractor environment
- Experience estimating federal construction projects is required
- Ideally a strong network of subcontractors and suppliers throughout the DC/Maryland market
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience reviewing plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Adobe, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Desire to mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative culture
