District Court & Adult Probation AdministratorLocation: Port TownsendLead the administrative operations of Jefferson County District Court and its Adult Misdemeanant Probation Office in a fast-paced environment where sound judgment, strong relationships, and attention to detail matter. Working closely with the elected District Court Judge, this position provides leadership and direction to court and probation staff, develops and implements policies and procedures, coordinates court operations, and represents the Court in its work with County officials, attorneys, law enforcement, state agencies, community partners, and the public.This is a hands-on leadership role with a broad scope of responsibility – from supervising and developing employees and resolving complex or sensitive issues to managing financial operations, preparing and monitoring the Court's budget, and ensuring legal and procedural requirements are met. The ideal candidate is an organized, adaptable, and confident leader who can navigate competing priorities, communicate effectively with a wide range of people, remain composed in challenging situations, and keep the Court's operations moving forward while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism. The position must abide by the Code of Judicial Conduct, specifically Canons 1, 2, and 3.Ability to successfully complete various required training classes and obtain certificates necessary for functional skills performance, maintenance and improvement. This includes graduation from the Criminal Justice Training Commission or equivalent probation academy.For more information see job description: District Court & Adult Probation Administrator.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree (B.A. / B.S.) or equivalent from an accredited college or university with major course work in Court Administration, Public Administration, Law, Business or a closely related field, and five (5) years of administrative/management experience directly related to the duties of the position, or any combination of education and experience which would clearly demonstrate the ability to perform the work. Master's degree preferred.CompensationThis is a full-time, FLSA exempt position with a 2026 MG19 monthly salary range of $7,871.58-9,681.05, depending on qualifications.Jefferson County offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 11 paid state-recognized holidays, three (3) floating holidays, paid time off (PTO), bereavement leave, and access to the Employee Assistance Program, with retirement provided through Washington State DRS.Open until filled.
