We focus on maximizing operating leverage by integrating functions, increasing productivity, and gaining efficiencies to better position Schwab to compete in the marketplace and to reinvest in areas that matter most to our clients. As an elite team of experts, we are committed to delivering efficient solutions that maximize trust while minimizing risk by owning every client interaction through clients' eyes.The Loss Prevention teams within Banking Operations are responsible for reviewing high-risk money movement transactions. We play a critical role for the organization as our reps are tasked with the front-line detection of fraud and scams involving money movement and our clients. This role is critical in the escalation of events and trends to prevent fraud, as well as other financial crimes.As a Banking Operations Sr. Specialist on the Loss Prevention team, you will work on a multi-faceted team that provides client servicing and processing of time sensitive high-risk client transactions. This role requires the ability to conduct effective telephone interviews and forensic research and document the written results in the case management system in a clear and logical manner. The Specialist will interact with other teams including Financial Crimes Risk Management, Identity Theft, and the Senior Vulnerable Investor teams to review and resolve cases in addition to communications with internal and external clients.What you'll do:Perform all the core functions at a high level of proficiency, such as processing money movements while conducting research using Schwab systems, 3rd party systems, and open-source mediaMaintain knowledge of fraud red flags and industry trends in order to make informed decisions regarding client transactionsSubmit high quality cases for review to Fraud Investigations in situations involving account takeover fraud, new account fraud, Senior and Vulnerable Investors, scams, and potential violations of an OFAC or AML natureProvide guidance to business partners on best practices related to riskActively listen, assess client needs, research information, and recognize risks and steps to mitigate firm exposure to fraudEffectively managing and evaluating risk when reviewing client fund disbursements including but not limited to wire transfers, ACH, journals, checks, and international currencyMaking proper and timely escalations in situations involving account takeover fraud, new account fraud, Senior and Vulnerable Investors, scams, and potential violations of an OFAC or AML natureIdentify and assess gaps in processes and proceduresProvide procedural solutions that mitigate risk and lessen the client's and Schwab's exposure to lossWhat you haveTo ensure that we fulfill our promise of 'challenging the status quo,' this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.Required Qualifications:3+ years of experience in an operations, fraud, or client service roleExcellent verbal communication skills including the ability to handle client escalationsAbility to analyze issues and develop problem solving methodology with minimal guidanceDemonstrated skills related to individual case/workload managementFlexible regarding both schedule and role as both may change with little notice in response to business demandMust have demonstrated experience and be comfortable making critical decisions in a time sensitive environmentMust have demonstrated experience in applying judgment and analysis to detect and deter suspicious activitiesPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experienceFINRA Series 99 or 7 and 63 licensesFINRA Series 9/10 licensesCertified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS)In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunitiesWhat's in it for youAt Schwab, you're empowered to shape your future.
