Senior Fire Protection Specialist

About the role: You will perform moderately complex to complex fire protection design, assessment, analysis, field-support, and program-support activities. You may have primary depth in fire detection/alarm/emergency signaling systems, fire suppression or fire protection codes, standards, regulations and compliance. You will understand interfaces with adjacent fire protection areas, recognize when you require complementary expertise and work in an integrated fire protection design, assessment, and support environment. You will report to the Director, Fire Protection and be located at either our Rock Hill, SC or Cranberry, PA facility. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, blending remote flexibility with regular on-site collaboration at either our Rock Hill, SC or Cranberry, PA offices.
Key responsibilities include performing assigned fire protection technical work, which includes tasks related to detection, alarm, emergency signaling, suppression, special hazards, firewater, life safety, code compliance, fire hazard assessment, fire safe shutdown, and fire protection program support. Prepare complete first-pass deliverables such as design inputs, calculations, and layouts. These deliverables also include markups, specifications, technical evaluations, assessment sections, system narratives, cause-and-effect documentation, reports, review comments, work plans, field-review records, and technical correspondence. Apply applicable codes, standards, procedures, client requirements, quality requirements, licensing-basis requirements, and nuclear safety expectations to assigned work. Identify technical issues, assumptions, missing inputs, design conflicts, field constraints, quality concerns, implementation risks, and code or program compliance concerns requiring clarification or escalation. Support development of estimates, proposals, technical approaches, assumptions, clarifications, schedules, execution plans, and staffing inputs for assigned work.
Qualifications include a minimum of 5 years of related professional experience in fire protection, engineering technology, design or consulting services. A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical education is required. Professional Engineer (PE) license, Limited License, C.E.T., NICET, CFPS, or other relevant professional registration, certification, or designation is also required. Demonstrated expertise in performance-based fire safety design, fire modeling, life safety analysis, and interpretation of fire and building codes and standards is necessary.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
