Summary

Position SummaryICF islookingfor a multi-faceted onsite library technician to join our team. The library technician will supportthephysicalprocessing ofa large collectionof print materialsfor our National Library of Medicine client.The library technician willbe responsible forusing mixedmethodologyto analyze the collection andfollow established workflows for processing and making the collection discoverable. This position will be on site in Bethesda, Maryland.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentifyingMARC bibliographic records based on the review of a physical item.Searching/matching 19thand 20thcentury publications in Alma to find matching bibliographic records.Completing the physical processing of the collection materials, at minimum including adding call numbers and appropriately re-housing fragile items in archival envelopes and/or protective slings, etc.Updating existing cataloging records, including bibliographic, holdings, and item records.Flagging potential duplicate items for review; coding duplicates in Alma for review and batch deletion.Followingguidelines for specific materials to assure all records created followNLM policies andappropriate nationaland international standards.Qualifications1+ year of experience executing the physical processing of collection materials.1+ year of library and cataloging experience (e.g., use of and familiarity with MARC21,any library services platform, Cutter Sanborn Tables, etc.)Ability to obtain a public trust clearance.Preferred Qualifications1+ year of experience working with fragile materials,possibly ina specialcollectionsenvironment.Some familiarity with a variety of European languages.Professional SkillsAbility to work as part of a collaborative team.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Strongattention to detail and organizational skills.Commitment to client satisfaction and delivering high-quality work.Working at ICFICF is a global advisory and technology services provider, but we're not your typical consultants.
