Summary
Fire Lieutenant
Under the direction of the shift Captain, protect life and property through fire suppression, fire prevention, rescue, and emergency medical care. Perform work on a full-time basis in an hourly position. Assists in managing the fire station, is responsible for an assigned 24-hour shift, and supervises personnel in all aspects of daily fire department operations. Assists with managing personnel, planning, organization, and education for their assigned shift. Serves as the shift officer in the Captain or Assistant Fire Chief's absence. This position will require the Lieutenant to work 24-hour shifts. The shifts begin at 0800 and end at 0800 the next day. The duty days and hours will be on an A-B-C shift schedule and may change at the discretion of the Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Minimum Requirements:
Driving Requirements: Valid class B non-commercial driver's license (or higher) free of occupational restrictions. Must be insurable with the Nation's insurance carrier.
Experience:
- 5 years of emergency services experience.
- Valid class B non-commercial driver's license
- 1 year of current service with the Potawatomi Tribal Fire Department.
- A record of satisfactory attendance and performance in all prior and current employment.
Education:
- High school Diploma or GED.
- EMT - Must possess current Kansas Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher certification.
- Firefighter I & II
- HAZMAT Operations,
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS-100, 200,700, & 800 certifications.
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) ICS-300
- Instructor I
