Clallam County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) is seeking a dedicated individual for the position of Sheriff's Deputy. The salary range is $88,883.04 - $104,008.08 annually, and the job is located at the Clallam County Courthouse, WA. This is a regular full-time position with a job number of 2026-02. The department is Operations, and the closing date is continuous.

The position is exempt from FLSA and is represented by the WAFOP-D Bargaining Unit. It is not grant funded.

Must not have any period of separation from law enforcement that exceeds five (5) years prior to appointment. Must have successfully completed a bona fide Field Training program and deployed full-time to patrol squad/unit to perform duties autonomously as a sworn peace officer, and successfully completed probation. Ability to perform the essential mental and physical demands and functions of the position. Solid writing skills, basic report preparation using computer technology. United States' Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident at the time of appointment. Ability to read and write the English language (required by RCW 41.14.100). Valid driver's license at the time of employment. No prior felony convictions and/or recent or excessive drug usage history. Typical work includes patrolling designated areas of the County in a police patrol vehicle and/or on foot to deter and discover crime; performing on-scene investigations at crime scenes; aiding persons in trouble and rendering other public services as needed; patrolling a designated area of the County in a patrol car to enforce traffic and parking ordinances and investigate collisions; operating a radar unit to confirm speed violations; routinely checking vehicle identification against current list of stolen vehicles and identification of violator against list of outstanding arrest warrants; issuing citations to violators of state laws and County ordinances; serving warrants of arrest; arresting persons on misdemeanor and felony charges; handcuffing and searching arrested persons and securing their custody; completing necessary reports concerning alleged crimes and available evidence and witnesses; serving subpoenas, garnishments, writs of execution, writs of attachment, writs of restitution, orders of sale and various other civil processes issued by the courts; responding to reports of possible crime and taking action as the situation requires securing the scene; locating and interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects; gathering evidence and arresting suspects; completing incident and arrest reports; investigating persons suspected of being engaged in crime and ascertaining and securing evidence pertaining to alleged crime and arresting suspects for probable cause; responding to collision scenes; administering emergency first aid and summoning aid cars or other patrol units for assistance in treating the injured and controlling the scene; interviewing principals and witnesses, making general drawings of accident scenes noting details and completing a standard accident report; issuing citations or making arrests as the situation warrants; investigating and assisting drivers in stalled vehicles and pedestrians who appear to be hurt or in trouble; interviewing persons with complaints or inquiries, giving information on laws and ordinances, and attempting to resolve the problem or to direct them to proper authorities; conducting thorough investigations of reported crimes appropriate to their assignment; arranging line-ups for victims and witness identification; gathering evidence and conducting necessary searches; preparing case files detailing all aspects of an investigation and presenting it through the chain of command to a prosecuting attorney; receiving training in the safety and use of firearms and other weapons; testifying in court; performing specialized duties depending on individual officer's background and ability, and the needs of the department; performing other related duties as assigned; and performing related work as required.

Minimum requirements include having a High School Diploma or G.E.D., a minimum age of 21 years at time of appointment, the ability to obtain a valid Washington State Driver's license, meeting Clallam County Civil Service Pre-Employment Screening Standards, willingness to submit to and pass a thorough background investigation to include a drug screen, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, and physical examination, and meeting the current physical standards adopted by the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission.
