Job Details Location: Philander Smith University - LITTLE ROCK, AR 72202Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 2 Year DegreeTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: DayJob Category: Admin - ClericalSummary Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Library Technician performs duties related to carrying out circulation desk operations such as opening and closing the library, assisting patrons, and maintaining library materials and equipment. This individual greets and assists library users employing excellent customer service skills. Must be available for days, nights, and weekends. This is not a student worker position.Duties & Responsibilities Perform circulation services, including providing excellent customer service, assisting patrons in person, by computer, and by telephone, registering new patrons via the library's integrated library system (ILS), and keeping statistics.Exhibit excellent customer service.Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.Exhibit attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.Provide reference assistance and information to patrons such as library rules & procedures.Monitor and perform stack maintenance, including shelving of materials, shelf-reading, shifting collections, updating shelf locators, identifying materials for preservation and updating materials.Respond to the theft detectors.Ability to stand and walk for long periods, lift more than 20lbs, sit, bend, squat, kneel, push/pull, and reach above shoulder level.Other duties as assigned.Preferred Qualifications A minimum of an Associate Degree.Experience with an integrated library system.Required Qualifications Formal education equivalent to a high school diploma.Six months to one year of experience in a library environment.Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Plans.Short-term and Long-term Disability Coverage.Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts.Employee Assistance Program.403B Retirement Savings Plan.Life Insurance.Paid Time Off.Tuition Reimbursement.Philander Smith University is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against applicants or employees based on age, race, sex, national origin, ethnicity, veteran status or religion.
