Eugene Public Library is recruiting a pool of interested candidates for temporary librarian duties, specifically On‑Call Librarians .OverviewThe library seeks collaborative, passionate librarians who want experience in a public library setting. Possible shifts include:Sunday–Monday 9 am‑6 pmTuesday–Thursday 9 am‑8 pmFriday–Saturday 9 am‑6 pmBilingual Pay BenefitThis position qualifies for up to an additional 5% of base salary for bilingual pay. Eligibility requires fluency in Spanish and completion of a language proficiency test administered by the City's Employee Resource Center.Worker StatusThis posting establishes a temporary employment pool. When selected, applicants will be called for interviews based on experience, education, and assignment needs.Minimum QualificationsEducation : Master of Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA‑accredited institution, or ability to obtain within two years of start date.Experience : Demonstrated skills gained through work in a library or related public service, educational, or social service organization.Background Check required.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPrinciples and practices of professional library work: reference, programming, core technology, emerging trends, databases, web tools, budget management, collection maintenance, and community outreach.Equity‑focused, trauma‑informed customer service with knowledge of DEIA concepts.Strong oral and written communication with diverse audiences.Creative problem‑solving, negotiation, and stress management in a public‑facing environment.Collaboration, innovation, flexibility, and cultural sensitivity; ability to work in a team.Program development, coordination, and implementation tailored to patron and community needs.Application of collection development standards and policies.Selection ProcessApplicants are screened based on relevant knowledge, experience, and abilities. The process may include questionnaires, skills tests, interviews, background investigations, and, for some positions, psychological evaluations, physical examinations, or drug testing.
