Summary
Position Summary: The Public Relations Manager will develop, recommend, and implement strategic communication initiatives that support the corporation's business objectives, reputation, and stakeholder engagement efforts. This individual will serve as a key representative of the organization to media outlets, industry partners, and external stakeholders while overseeing critical aspects of the company's public and media relations programs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in media relations, crisis communications, corporate communications, and project management. They will partner closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging, effective stakeholder communication, and successful implementation of strategic communication initiatives. Daily responsibilities include:Developing and executing strategic and tactical public relations plans that support corporate objectives and enhance organizational reputation.Supporting the development, implementation, and tracking of public information strategies for transmission construction and infrastructure projects.Serving as the Public Relations representative on select construction and infrastructure initiatives.Building and maintaining strong relationships with media organizations, journalists, and industry publications.Acting as a corporate spokesperson when appropriate and coordinating responses to media inquiries.Identifying opportunities to promote positive news and organizational accomplishments through earned media channels.Writing, editing, and managing news releases, media statements, talking points, and other communications materials.Managing the corporation's media contact database and coordinating media outreach efforts.Overseeing the creation and production of brochures, newsletters, publications, digital content, and other communication materials for internal and external audiences.Supporting website communication strategy and content development.Managing relationships with public relations agencies, consultants, and external communication vendors.Coordinating special events, media engagements, and stakeholder outreach initiatives.Leading special projects such as media training, presentation coaching, spokesperson preparation, and audience research initiatives.Managing the corporation's Crisis Communication Plan and supporting disaster response communication activities.Assisting with departmental budget development, forecasting, and tracking.Monitoring communication projects to ensure timely delivery and budget compliance.Providing communication strategy guidance and content direction to internal stakeholders.Required Qualifications / skills: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.5-10 years of experience in public relations, media relations, corporate communications, community relations, or a related field.Experience developing and executing strategic communication and public affairs initiatives.Demonstrated success managing media relations and serving as an organizational spokesperson.Strong experience writing and editing press releases, executive communications, newsletters, and marketing materials.Experience developing crisis communication strategies and managing communication during critical events.Proven project management and budget tracking experience.Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking abilities.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and communication-related technologies.Experience working with external agencies, consultants, and contractors.Plusses: Experience within the utility, energy, electric cooperative, transmission, or infrastructure industries.Experience supporting large-scale construction or capital infrastructure projects.Familiarity with emergency response communications and disaster recovery planning.Existing relationships with Georgia media organizations and industry associations.Experience managing website content strategies and digital communication initiatives.Experience conducting media training, executive communications coaching, or presentation skills development.Familiarity with contact management, media monitoring, and stakeholder engagement platforms.Compensation: $45/hr to $65/hr.Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
