DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for first-line supervision and training of Public Health Investigators and other personnel involved in disease intervention activities relating to the Communicable Disease Control Program. May supervise special projects and programs.
- Monitors and tracks duties related to expanded / high-profile contact investigations, including arranging Tuberculosis (TB) Informational Sessions with community stakeholders.
- Monitors field work, data collection, data entry and maintenance of databases to ensure appropriate medical evaluation of individuals being treated for tuberculosis and their contacts.
- Leads a team of Public Health Investigators to perform tuberculosis (TB) field activities including Directly Observed Therapy (DOT), Video DOT (VDOT), Enhance Self Administer Therapy (ESAT), Contact Investigation (CI), transportation. Provides appropriate orientation for newly employed Public Health Investigators and other staff.
- Conducts performance evaluation of Public Health Investigators and appropriate career conferences with specific work program needed to correct deficiencies.
- Develops and implements appropriate additional training as needed for disease intervention staff. Conducts performance evaluation of Public Health Investigators. Provides appropriate counseling and coaching sessions to correct performance deficiencies.
- Prioritizes the Bureau’s missions and makes necessary adjustments to address coverage issues, and patients concerns. Provides support to field teams as required, including home visits and field services for patients when necessary.
- Provides statistical analysis and required reports assigned by the program manager.
- Prepares and submits required records and reports.
- Performs venipuncture, specimen collection or skin tests on an as-needed basis.
- Performs field audit on investigative procedures to ensure compliance with established Quality Assurance Guidelines for Public Health Investigators

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Public Health or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Four (4) years of experience in the public health field are required.
SUBSTITUTION
Pertinent professional experience in the public health field may be substituted for the above educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**

SALARY INFORMATION GRANT FUNDED
Grants & Special funded positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
