Job Responsibilities
Provides supervision of assigned personnel and be familiar with post orders, policies, and procedures.
Supervise, direct, and control operations section's functions to ensure assigned duties are carried out and policies are adhered to.
Conduct on-the-job training of assigned personnel to include briefings.
Provide courteous and effective service to the general public, outside agencies, employees, and inmates.
Provide security and control of all sensitive forms used in the operations section.
Ensure accuracy of institutional counts.
Record all gains, losses, authorized absences, etc. and documented properly.
Maintain close working relationship with agency divisions to include classification and inmate records.
Complete required reports timely and accurately.
Receive and/or monitor calls from various agencies on operational matters.
Coordinate all transportation requirements with transportation sergeant.
Conduct routine/random rounds of assigned areas daily.
Any and all other duties as assigned by administrative captain.
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
- A high school diploma and three (3) years' experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
- Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
