The Wilton Police Department is seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Patrol Officers. If you are passionate about making a difference in a close-knit community and enjoy small-town policing, this is the opportunity for you!RESPONSIBILITIESCommunity policing and building positive relationships with residents.Investigating crimes and assisting with case resolution, including gathering evidence, witness interviews, booking and required report completion.Traffic enforcement, patrolling neighborhoods, and answering calls and complaintsUse radar to control traffic speed in community and issue citations.Responding to emergencies and incidents within the community.Participating in community events and outreach programs.JOB REQUIREMENTSKnowledge of the buildings, roads and infrastructure of the Town, and surrounding areas.Knowledge of modern principles and practices of police work.Ability to act professionally in high pressure situations.Ability to analyze quickly and subjectively to determine course of action.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.Ability to develop skills with firearms and motor vehicles.High School Diploma required, and formal training in Law Enforcement preferred. Consideration will be based on a combination of training and experience. o Expected to attend and complete the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.Required: Valid Driver's License.Serve a small Maine community where your work has a direct impact every day.
