Summary

To enhance coding quality and compliance, the full-time remote Inpatient Coding Specialist will review and analyze complex clinical documentation to accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes while serving as a technical resource for education and mentoring within the organization.Key responsibilitiesReviews complex inpatient medical records to assign accurate codes and determines principal diagnoses and secondary conditionsApplies MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodologies to ensure accurate reimbursement and quality outcomesEducates providers and team members on coding rules and best practices while supporting coding audits and quality assurance activitiesRequired qualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; completion of formal coursework in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and medical coding principles from an accredited programTwo years of inpatient medical coding experience, including high complexity casesAdvanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRG/APR-DRG methodologies, and quality reporting conceptsOne of the following certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CICProficiency with electronic health records and coding systems
