Halifax County Government is hiring for a Deputy Sheriff position. The salary range is $55,302.00 - $61,848.00 annually. The job is located at 26 N King Street, Halifax, NC, and is a full-time position within the Sheriff's Office. Applications are accepted continuously.

A Deputy Sheriff is responsible for general law enforcement work required by the Sheriff's Office. This includes keeping the peace, serving the public, protecting the lives, rights, and property of all those within Halifax County. Duties include taking calls from the public, investigating complaints and criminal activity, traffic enforcement, serving civil and criminal process, developing suspects, arresting perpetrators, providing security for the courts, transporting prisoners, and any other special assignments upon request. The applicant must be willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts which include holidays and weekends.

Graduation from high school or GED. Be at least 21 years of age. Possess a valid North Carolina driver's license. Be a United States citizen. Ability to obtain certification as a law enforcement officer in accordance with the North Carolina Sheriff's Training and Standards Commission.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Meet minimum standards set forth by the NC Sheriff Training and Standards (12NCAC 10B.0301) and discussed in the supplemental Employment Disqualifier document.
