Summary
To support accurate coding practices, the full-time remote Senior Certified Inpatient Coding Specialist will review and abstract inpatient medical records, assign appropriate medical codes for diagnoses and procedures, and ensure compliance with federal and state reporting requirements.Key responsibilitiesReviews medical record documentation to accurately assign ICD-10 codes and DRGs for inpatient recordsQueries physicians for clarification on code assignments when documentation is inadequate or ambiguousMaintains coding accuracy and productivity standards while adhering to ethical coding guidelines and compliance policiesRequired qualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferredCertification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) requiredFive years of inpatient hospital coding experience requiredStrong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and PCS codingExperience in a level 1 trauma facility or academic teaching facility preferred
