Public Safety TelecommunicatorWe're looking for a Public Safety Telecommunicator to join the Kingman Fire Department Communications Center. This position serves as the first point of contact during emergencies by answering 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls, gathering critical information, and dispatching police, fire, and medical units. The telecommunicator uses strong communication skills and sound judgment to help protect lives and property within the community.This position works in a fast-paced, high-volume communications center that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Communicate clearly and concisely, relay critical information, and monitor unit status throughout each call.Call Taking and Assessment (30%): Receive and evaluate 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls for service. Obtain essential details, determine the nature and urgency of incidents, and prioritize responses based on established protocols.Technology and Recordkeeping (15%): Enter, retrieve, and verify information using the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS), and National Crime Information Center (NCIC). Maintain accurate logs, reports, and records while safeguarding confidential information.Emergency Medical Assistance (10%): Provide emergency medical instructions using approved Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) protocols until responders arrive on scene.Training and Support (5%): Assist in the instruction and mentoring of new dispatchers as assigned. Participate in meetings, training sessions, and community events, and assist with troubleshooting and testing communications systems.Work is performed in a fast-paced, high-volume, 24-hour/7-day-per-week emergency communications center operation setting. May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Rotating shifts that include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required.
